Yes, you can definitely use this for garlic too, but it was made specifically for tomato. You see, my mum wanted a dish to grate tomato to make "pan con tomate" which is a simple but delicious meal in Spain that involves bread, tomato, olive oil,and salt. All the garlic graters were too small to contain the juices of the tomato. So, I made an organically shaped one that was a bit larger and deeper to serve its purpose.
